Cornmeal Cake with Guava Paste

A delicious and traditional Brazilian cornmeal cake with chunks of guava paste, perfect for celebrating June festivals.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 200g guava paste, diced

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. 2. In a bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, sugar, milk, oil, eggs, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. 3. Fold in the diced guava paste.
  4. 4. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
  5. 5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. 6. Let it cool before slicing and serving.
