Thanksgiving Turkey

Delicious roasted turkey recipe for Thanksgiving dinner.

Ingredients

  • 14 lb whole turkey
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Place turkey in a roasting pan and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Combine melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Brush mixture over turkey.
  4. Stuff turkey with onion, celery, and carrots. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  5. Cover turkey with foil and roast for 3 to 3.5 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
  6. Remove foil and roast for additional 30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Let turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
